제목 | Patterned catalyst layer for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells |
초록 | Membrane electrode assembly (MEA) is one of the important components that determine the performance of polymer exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). In PEMFCs, water produced at the cathode hinders the mass transport of gas (O2) and lowers overall cell performance. To improve the performance, it is necessary to manage the water flooding in the cathode side. Here, we introduce the cracks on the cathode catalyst layers to investigate the effects of artificial cracks on the cell performance. A catalyst ink was coated by a bar coater on the polyimide substrate with a mask film. The number and width of cracks are controlled to observe the relationship between the area occupied by the cracks and the cell performance. |
