제목 Imaging real-time events in the liquid state by transmission electron microscopy : preparation and applications
초록 In-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has recently played a key role as a powerful tool to visualize critical phenomena in biology and chemistry in real time. It is a technique using an electron microscope to capture high-resolution live images of nano-scale samples either in the liquid or solid state. Liquid cell TEM, in particular, has allowed many biologists to observe proteins or cells in their natural form and many chemists to reveal reaction mechanisms or chemical structures. However, there remains a need for an easy and effective solution as the methods in the previous works to make a liquid cell are time-consuming and laborious.
Here, we introduce how we have recently improved the fabrication process of two types of a liquid cell; graphene liquid cell (GLC) and silicon liquid cell with a silicon nitride window (SiN cell). We also present a few applications using either a GLC or a SiN cell.
