To enhance ionic conductivity of existing solid polymer electrolytes, studies have been reported in which an electrolyte penetrates a gel network. The interpenetrating network structure can improve mechanical strength as well as ionic conductivity of solid polymer electrolytes. We prepare a cross-linkable electrolyte, composed of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate, poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate, and lithium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide. Then the mixture is incorporated into a pre-prepared gel network of poly(lithium acrylate), and is photopolymerized to produce a hybrid gel polymer electrolyte. We use rheometer, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), universal testing machine to investigate the effect of interpenetrating network structure on viscoelastic, electrical, and mechanical properties of the hybrid gel polymer electrolytes. Our fabricating method can provide useful insights into the design of fast solid polymer electrolytes. |
