Near-infrared mediated bioimaging and photodynamic therapy of multi-structured upconversion nanoparticles |
초록 |
The generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment method that is spotlighted in non-invasive cancer therapy due to their significantly fewer side effects than conventional therapy. However, PDT has limitations such as the low solubility of the photosensitizer (PS) involved in ROS generation and the depth of penetration into the tissue. Lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) which exhibit anti-Stokes emission by absorbing multi-photons have demonstrated for near-infrared (NIR) light activated PDT applications. PDT based on UCNPs can generate singlet oxygen, via the excitation of a PS using NIR irradiation which has deep penetration depth and low toxicity in tissue. In this study several core-shell structured UCNPs were prepared by thermal decomposition method. In addition, PDT effects of the UCNPs-based nanocarrier were investigated using two types of cancer cell lines. |
