In this study, by introducing two materials, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) was increased. Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) embedded TiO2 nanotube arrays (TNTAs) were used instead of mesoporous TiO2 for better electron generation. The Au NPs were incorporated into TNTAs by electrodeposition and create plasmonic effect. The PCE of DSSCs with Au NPs embedded TNTAs was increased from 5.85% to 6.50%, an enhancement of 11.11%, compared to only with TNTAs. Another is scattering layer, that can be applied to DSSCs by doctor blade. Scattering layer decreases the amount of light loss by spawning light to irregular angle and it increases the light harvesting ability of DSSCs. The PCE of DSSCs with scattering layer was 6.61% and it shows an enhancement of 12.99%. Finally, both Au NPs embedded TNTAs and scattering layer were introduced to DSSCs and the PCE is 7.12%, an enhancement of 21.70%. |
