Protein-polymers are an important biomaterial in the biotechnology. With the development of protein-reactive initiators provides an alternative way to form well-defined polymers by the ring-opening polymerization of NCAs to form well-defined polymers is now possible. Generally, NCAs are prepared in organic solvents with high nucleophilicity and donor ability such as DMF. However, recently NCAs can also be formed in aqueous conditions under extreme hot-pressure. Microwave energy makes water can be boiled at much higher temperature than its boiling point and dissolve reactants. As a result, hot-pressurized water has attracted tremendous interest in organic chemistry as an alternative reaction medium “for green sustainable organic synthesis”. |
