In general, α-amino acid-N-carboxyanhydrides(NCAs) are prepared and manipulated in organic solvents with high nucleophilicity and donor ability, such as DMF(N,N-dimethylformamide) and DMSO(dimethylsulfoxide). Recent studies have indicated that NCAs can be synthesized eco-friendly media under extreme hot-pressure and at high-temperature. Microwave energy can make some solvents boiled at much higher temperature than their boiling point and dissolve reactants that are insoluble in normal conditions. This microwave-assisted strategy can be extended to many synthetic applications. In our current study, tyrosine-b-PEG copolymers have been synthesized in sovent via microwave-assisted approach, which sets a typical example for the synthesis of biodegradable polymers by green chemistry. |
