In this work, we introduce synthesis and characterization of fluoroalkyl-modified polysilazanes prepared by ammonolysis of a perfluoro-silane precursor and dichloromethylsilane to improve surface wettability for a wide range of applications. A series of fluoroalky-modified polysilazanes which possesses extremely low surface energy due to the fluorinated functional group was synthesized by hydrosilylation of 1H,1H,2H-perfluoro-1-decene with dichloromethylsilane. The structure of the new perfluorinated polysilazanes were confirmed by 1H NMR, FT-IR and TGA analyses. To the best of our knowledge, these novel fluorinated polysilazane syntheses have not previously been conducted. For self-cleaning application, fluorinated polysilazane solution was coated on glass substrate by simple dip-coating technique. The highest water and hexadecane contact angles of fluorinated-polysilazane were found as 115o and 55.6o, respectively, which are higher than those of fluorine-free polysilazane coating. |
