제목 Effect of salts on adsorption behaviors of amphiphilic gold nanoparticles at water-oil interface
초록 It has been reported that amphiphilic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) functionalized with hydrophobic and hydrophilic ligands can be accumulated at the oil-water interface. In this study, we have investigated the effect of ionic interactions on the adsorption behaviors of amphiphilic AuNPs at the hexane-water interface by using chloride salts such as lithium chloride (LiCl), potassium chloride (KCl), tetramethylammonium chloride (TMACl). Based on the Langmuir isotherm model, we calculated of the equilibrium constant (K) and maximum uptake concentration (Cmax) of AuNPs. The K and Cmax values are depending on concentrations and type of salts. As increasing concentration of salts, the K and Cmax of AuNPs at the interface increase. More importantly, we found the K and Cmax of AuNPs adsorption in the order of LiCl > KCl >TMACl with same concentrations the salts, due to decrease in the repulsions between AuNPs at the water-hexane interface.
