Bakelite is a synthetic resin (plastic) formed by condensation of phenol and formaldehyde. Although it is used for electrical insulators, adhesives, casting processes, and various mechanical and electrical components because it is hard and insoluble, Bakelite is not thermally deformed once it is formed because it is a thermosetting plastic. Mostly, it is pulverized to be used as a filler or used as carbon particles with the use of heat. In this study, carbon particles were made of Bakelite using supercritical fluid reactions. They were made by cutting Bakelite in pellet form according to reaction temperature and time and amount of the reaction solvent under supercritical fluid conditions. They were analyzed using FT-IR, XRD, SEM and TGA. They were greatly affected by the reaction temperature, and specifically shaped carbon particles were confirmed between 330℃ and 420℃ with an increase in temperature. |
