Silica particles have been used in various fields by application of catalysts, cosmetics, biosensors. However, the conventional method of synthesizing silica particles requires extremely low or high pH as well as high temperature and high pressure. In addition, the bulk process in which the synthesis reaction takes place produces a large amount of reaction waste. In order to solve these problems, bio-mimetic approach using R5 peptide and Polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) as a catalyst of sol-gel reaction was performed in the microfluidic system. For carious analyzes, we used a microfluidic reactor which can mix efficiently by using fluid instability by viscoelastic polymer solution. Finally, we analyzed the morphology of silica particles in microfluidic devices depending on precursor species, catalyst types, and the presence or absence of accelerating molecules. |
