Dependence of Microwave Dielectric Properties on Crystal structure of (Zn1/3B5+2/3)1-xTixO2 (B5+ = Nb, Ta) Ceramics |

Relationships between crystal structure and the microwave dielectric properties of (Zn1/3B5+2/3)1-xTixO2 (B5+ = Nb, Ta) ceramics were investigated as a function of Ti content (0.3≤x≤0.6). Dielectric constant (K) and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) of sintered specimens were strongly depended on the structural characteristics of oxygen octahedra in rutile structure. Cation rattling and the distortion of oxygen octahedra were dependent on the ratio of apical(dapical)/equatorial(dequatorial) bond length of oxygen octahedra. The quality factor (Qf) was dependent on the reduction of Ti ion as well as the microstructure of the specimens. For the same content of Ti, Qf value of the specimens with B=Ta was higher than that of the specimens with B=Nb. The effects of cation bond valence and structural ordering on the microwave dielectric properties were also discussed. |
