제목 Multi-bed pressure swing adsorption modeling for C02 capture from steel by-product gas
초록 The by-product gas from the steel industry account for about 8 percent of the entire global CO2 emission, leading to increase in the demand for carbon capture and utilization technology.The pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process is currently recognized as a promising CO2 capture technology in that the control of purity and recovery of a target gas is feasible, with capturing energy efficiency and cost being the most important factor for CCUS. In this study, the PSA process is developed by a dynamic simulation for the CO2 capture from steel by-product gas. Since the captured CO2 is connected with CO2 utilization, the goal of capture efficiency is set to achieve the purity of over 90% and the recovery of 65%. To confirm the PSA feasibility, 37.8% CO2 mixture that matches the composition of the by-product gas was used as a feed gas balanced with N2 for a 14-bed PSA process. Two different adsorbents were filled in the beds, considering PSA process instead of VSA process. A separate step was introduced to provide purge gas to increase the purity of CO2. Through the dynamic simulation, the impact of step time, feed pressure and purge amount on purity and recovery were investigated.
