The atmosphere has been infected with the various toxic gases. Removal of carbon monoxide (CO), a representative air pollutant, is therefore significantly important. Noble metals such as gold, platinum and palladium are well-known catalysts for CO oxidation reaction. However, they are limited in practical usage due to their high cost and vulnerability to pollution. In this study, we synthesized titanium dioxide catalysts co-doped with copper and iron (Cu-Fe@TiO2), which are abundant in earth and economically feasible, for CO oxidation process. Cu-Fe@TiO2 are shaped into the bead form through previously reported sol-gel method using alginate polymer. Beads feature easy separation, feasible recycle, favorable handle in industrial utilities and diminished pressure drop in reactors. We confirm that our bead-shaped Cu-Fe@TiO2 shows excellent performance and reusability in practical CO oxidation. |
