Direct decomposition of methane is possible producing H2 without emitting CO2 at mild reaction conditions and the catalyst developed in this system can be utilized as reformer catalyst in fuel cell. So methane conversion is important for application. In this study, we investigated the effect of various factors such as amount of Ni loaded, reaction temperature, GHSV, and different type supports for high methane conversion. Ni(10wt%)/SiO2 was observed to have high methane conversion over 70% at 650 oC. Mesoporous supports such as SiO2 and MCM-41 showed good catalytic activity. |
