| 초록 | Paradigm shift in energy and resources industry led by worldwide carbon-neutral policy is becoming increasingly dominant in the globe, and many countries including USA, EU, Japan and China are putting extensive effort on the clean energy and low-carbon circular economy development. Korea’s core industries are facing serious challenges from stagnant economic growth and absence of new growth engines. Energy and resources industries are not an exception from these challenges, and thus a new strategy is required to reactivate the dynamics of energy and resources industry in Korea. This talk will first review the policy & technical approaches of leading countries regarding carbon neutral society development, and highlight the challenges of Korea’s energy and resources industry in this regard. The strategy of Korea to overcome these challenges and turn them into new opportunities (a blue ocean shift strategy) will then be proposed and discussed. Especially, the role of chemical engineering in these aspects will be presented and discussed. |
