In this study, hollow sphere morphology was introduced to MCM-22 zeolite using carbon sphere (CS) prepared as a hard template. By maintaining the MWW type structure of MCM-22, it was expected to have an activity as an aromatization catalyst. However, there was a limitation to use hollow sphere (HS)-MCM-22 as a catalyst due to a thin and fragile shell of the hollow sphere when typical silica source such as fumed silica and colloidal silica was used. To compensate for the limitation, HS-MCM-22 was synthesized using ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) as a silica source. Through TEM analysis, it was confirmed that the shell thickness was increased compared to similar ones prepared with other refractory silica materials. The catalytic activity of HS-MCM-22 catalyst was evaluated for aromatization of acetylene. The catalyst was characterized through XRD, ICP-OES, NH3-TPD, N2 physisorption, SEM, and TEM analysis. |
