pH-responsive polymers are used for various application such as drug delivery, gene delivery, etc. But, pH-responsive polymers have several disadvantages such as unavoidable synthesis, wide distribution of molecular weight, unregulatable drug loading and release rate, toxicity and biodegradation. So, we developed pH-responsive carbon dots(C-Dots). C-Dots are made through organic materials containing carbon, and various methods such as hydrothermal, microwave, pyrolysis, etc. We synthesized drug loaded pH-responsive C-Dots (pRC-Dots) through microwave method. Drug release rate in pRC-Dots are higher than in control group at tumor environment mimic pH. In vitro test, we confirmed the therapeutic effect using human colon cancer, human pancreatic cancer, and human breast cancer cell lines. Also, we confirmed the pRC-Dots therapeutic effect by in vivo test using tumor bearing mouse. As a result, we show that pRC-Dots have the possibility to be used as a tumor treating material. |
