Rapid prototyping, also known as 3D printing, was developed in the late 1970s. In recent days, on account of development in computer aided design (CAD) and material science, the application of the 3D printing for both industrial and general public use has grown dramatically in the past decade. During the SLA process, the resin is deposited layer by layer based on the prerequisite model and simultaneously polymerized by UV laser. At this time, the resin doesn't cure at all and some remains uncured. As a result, the physical properties of the final product may deteriorate. We have successfully developed a product through SLA process by introducing an acrylic resin containing thermally curable functional groups to the existing resin. After the additional heat treatment, the properties of the product were improved compared to the existing products. In order to investigate the cause of improvement of physical properties, we have characterized the materials through various methods. |
