We fabricated embedded structures of gold ribbons and silver nanowires in flexible polymeric substrates by using both imprinting and galvanic displacement. A thin layer of a paraffin wax (eicosane, C20H42) was firstly prepared on Si substrates by spin-coating or bar coating method. A prism-type elastomeric mold was directly pressurized on the surface of eicosane. As the result, prism-type patterns of eicosane were produced on the Si substrates. Then, uncovered Si surface between two eicosane patterns played a role as electrodes to deposit gold (Au) layer via galvanic displacement. In addition, silver (Ag) nanowires were deposited selectively on the gold layer between eicosane patterns during evaporation of solvent due to surface energy difference and height contrast. Finally, as poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) was cured on the samples and peeled off from the Si substrates, embedded structures of Ag nanowires /Au ribbons were successfully fabricated in flexible PDMS substrates. |
