In this work, three carboline derivatives, 9-(3-9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole (CZ-αcb), 9-(3-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)-9H-pyrido[3,4,-b]indole (CZ-βcb), 5-(3-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole (CZ-γcb) were synthesized as high triplet energy host materials for blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The triplet energy levels of CZ-αcb, CZ-βcb, and CZ-γcb can be assumed to be 2.88, 2.96, and 2.98 eV, respectively. Blue phosphorescent OLEDs were fabricated by doping bis((3,5-difluoro-4-cyanophenyl)pyridine)iridium picolinate (FCNIrpic) in the carboline host materials. Maximum quantum efficiencies of CZ-αcb, CZ-βcb, and CZ-γcb devices were 23.5 %, 19.4 %, and 17.6 %, respectively and the quantum efficiencies were 21.5 %, 18.5 %, and 15.8 % at 1000 cd/m2. |
