The ferrierite (FER) zeolite can be used for a gas-phase DME carbonylation reaction, and eco-friendly ethanol can be synthesized by using the hydrogenation of methyl acetate (MA) form by DME carbonylation. In the case of long-term reaction on the zeolites, coke depositions are a major cause of rapid catalyst deactivation. Therefore, the continuous catalyst regeneration is required for stable processes, especially with a fluidized bed reactor application. Those catalysts for the fluidized-bed applications must have physical properties such as regular grain size and density. In the present study, the coating technique of FER zeolite on the commercial Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) zeolite was investigated by using a polymer binder. The FCC@FER was synthesized by adjusting the compositions, mass ratios and type of polymer and the FCC@FER was applied for a gas-phase DME carbonylation reaction. |
