제목 In Situ Generation of Activators via Monomer Addition for Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization
초록 Industrial application of living radical polymerizations will be difficult to realize if the system cannot overcome the obstacle of air-sensitivity of the lower-oxidation-state metals.we report here a new initiation procedure for ATRP, in situ generation of activators via monomer addition for atom transfer radical polymerization (GAMA ATRP), which uses monomer to reduce the initially added high-oxidation-state metal, followed by subsequent in situ generation a new initiator to initiate polymerization. In this study, GAMA ATRP has been successfully extended its applicability as a new ATRP to form well-defined polymers with low polydispersities with a variety of monomers, metal compounds including hygroscopic metal compounds, and ligands. By applying the new redox process to a variety of systems, GAMA ATRP can employ an easier and more convenient experiment condition with hygroscopic metal usage and in the absence of even ATRP initiators.
