Harvesting energy carriers (e.g., natural gases, hydrogen) in the nanoporous water-frameworks of clathrate hydrate has enabled chemically benign gas storage or separation. Designing a route for clathrate hydrate synthesis is important aspect of effort to improve energy-efficiency in hydrate-based gas storage. Recently, synthetic pathway-dependent cage occupation behavior of hydrogen-natural gas blends in hydrate structures was reported. Thus, a strategy for energy gas enclathration is expected to be important especially in the area of hydrate-based gas storage. In this talk, direct evolution from ice, guest-exchange reaction, and structural transformation of hydrogen-natural gas blends hydrates will be compared. Moreover, I would like to discuss some feasible options to accelerate gas hydrate formation. |
