Gold nanobipyramids (Au BPs) have attracted much attention due to their unique structure and optical properties. When precious metal nanoparticles are adjacent to each other, the effect of localized surface plasmon coupling increases synergistically near the contacts, which further enhance Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) signals. This significant enhancement in electromagnetic fields is called a hot-spot. In this work, gold-silver coreshell were synthesized initially and then matryoshka gold-silver nanobipyramids were developed through galvanic replacements to form hotspots inside gold nanoparticles. Further, we have controlled the thickness of the silver layer to5-80 nm by using different amount of silver nitrate. In addition, it has been explored that the SERS signal of matryoshka gold-silver nanobipyramids was amplified due to formation of hotspots inside the nanostructure as compared to the pristine simple AuBPs. |
