제목 Structural and Bacterial Adherence Study of Brush Polymers on Self- Assembled Films  Bearing Zwitterionic Sulfobetaine Moieties
초록 A series of brush polymers were synthesized containing zwitterioinc sulfobetaine group, poly(oxy(11-(3-sulfonylpropyltrimethylglycinyl)undecylesterthiomethyl)ethylene-co-oxy(n-dodecylthiomethyl)-ethylene)s (PECH-DMAPSm, where m is the mol% of DMAPS (sulfobetaine) end group). Thermal stability of polymers maintained up to 185 oC. The structures of polymers were found to form into multi-bilayer structure-favored, always providing hydrophilic, zwitterionic sulfobetaine end groups at the film surface. Water sorption behavior was examined. In addition, surface energy components of polymer films and the bacterial cells deposited on cellulose acetate membranes, were determined. The brush polymer films were found to suppress bacterial adherence significantly. The results collectively indicate that the sulfobetaine-containing brush polymers are suitable for use in biomedical applications that require the reduced possibility of post-operative infection.
