제목 Multifunctional Bioadhesives via CaO2-mediated in situ Oxygen Generation and Catechol Oxidation
초록 The catechol-modified polymeric hydrogels have captured extensive attention as bioadhesives in biomedical fields owing to their biocompatibility and strong adhesives. However, they still exhibit limitations as low conjugation efficiency of catechol onto the polymer backbone and slow oxidation due to the lack of oxygen during the oxidation. Herein, we develop oxygen-generating gelatin-based hydrogels via calcium peroxide (CaO2)-mediated crosslinking and in situ dopamine (DA) polymerization. We confirm the hydrogels generate oxygen up to 70% pO2 and maintain hyperoxic levels for 7 days in vitro. The hydrogels exhibit controllable tissue adhesiveness (15−38 kPa) and enhance wound healing with neovascularization in vivo. We also evaluate the hemostatic property of the hydrogels, showing the efficient hemostatic effect in vivo (total blood loss 36.6 mg). In conclusion, our hydrogels hold great potential as multifunctional bioadhesives for wound management.
