Over the past decade, respiratory virus infections have been represented as a major public health problem. These viruses have killed many people worldwide, therefore, the needs for rapid detection systems of viruses have been highlighted. Since many of viral attachment sites of viral proteins are enriched with positively charged residues, various sulfonated materials have been investigated for broad-spectrum prevention of viral infection based on charge-charge interaction. Here, we designed multi-sulfonated material-functionalized surfaces as the rapid virus detection system based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR). We studied the detection sensitivity and selectivity for viruses such as influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 pseudo typed virus of our multi-sulfonated surfaces, which showed a great potential for broad-spectrum biosensor for respiratory viruses. |
