제목 Fabrication and characterization of heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes based on thermoplastic ionomers
초록 The ion-exchange membrane (IEM) is a separation material widely used in desalination and energy conversion technologies, and is receiving a lot of attention as the scope of its use is gradually expanding. The IEM can be divided into a homogeneous type and a heterogeneous type according to the fabrication method and structure of the membrane. In general, heterogeneous IEMs are inexpensive but have disadvantages in that they have high electrical resistance and low ion-selective property. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the thickness and improve the ion conductivity of the heterogeneous membrane simultaneously. In this study, a heterogeneous membrane with a relatively thin thickness and excellent ion conductivity was fabricated using a thermoplastic ionomer containing fixed charge groups as a binder and various types of fillers. The prepared membranes were systematically analyzed and the properties were also evaluated by applying them to various processes including continuous electrodeionization.
