제목 The liquid-phase alkylation of biomass-derived phenolic derivatives over layered form zeolites
초록 The research into the bio-jet fuel production using a biomass pyrolysis oil is rapidly growing. For upgrading to jet-fuel grade naphthene, a key catalytic step is to increase the carbon numbers of short-chain pyrolysis oil compounds to high carbon number jet fuel precursors. In this study, the liquid-phase alkylation of guaiacol with 2-propanol (IPA) over zeolite catalysts of layered form was studied as a model reaction for the alkylation of biomass pyrolysis oils. the ITQ-2 and MCM-36 zeolites with thin-layer structure were prepared by the post modification of the expanded layered zeolite precursor by swelling and followed by exfoliation or pillaring. The reactants can have nearly unlimited access to the active sites with high surface areas. During the alkylation of guaiacol with IPA, C-alkylation, trans-alkylation and O-alkylation reactions occurred competitively. The effects of pore size and structure on the production of the targeted alkylation products will be discussed.
