제목 | Sustained release microspheres of rivoceranib for the treatment of angiogenesis |
초록 | The ocular disease like age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is caused by angiogenesis occurred with the extension or remodeling of blood vessels to the macula. Angiogenesis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of subfoveal choroidal neovascularization, and the representative signaling pathway for angiogenesis is activated by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). In the previous study, rivoceranib confirmed that human retinal microvascular endothelial cells inhibit phosphorylation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2) by VEGF. Therefore, we tried to ocular disease treatment through drug repositioning of rivoceranib. We prepared microspheres containing rivoceranib using o/w single emulsion and evaporation method for efficient drug delivery. In vitro and in vivo results demonstrate that rivoceranib microspheres may be promising for the prevention and treatment of corneal neovascularization-related ocular disorders. |
