제목 Preparation and Li+ adsorption characterization of porous LMO/C adsorbent using pitch-based carbon as a binder
초록 Lithium manganese oxide (LMO) with spinel structure of Li1.33Mn1.67O2 is well known as a high lithium-selective adsorbent from salt late or seawater. However, the LMO powder should be transformed to the porous shapes such as granule, sphere, and foam using appropriate binding materials for practical use. In this study, we proposed a new approach for preparation of porous LMO/C adsorbent using the petroleum pitch as a binder material which could provide a chemical resistance and mechanical strength. The LMO powder and petroleum pitch were mixed and shaped by hot press. And the shaped body was then heat-treated for 3 hours at 400 ℃ to finally obtain the porous LMO/C adsorbent. We evaluated the Li+ adsorption performance. The prepared LMO/C adsorbent showed excellent adsorption capacity and physicochemical/mechanical durability.
