Preparation of pitch based carbon fibers by co-carbonization of PFO and low-rank coal upgrading residue |
초록 |
According to the limited reserves and rising demand of a bituminous coal, the upgrading technology using low rank coal (LRC) such as brown or sub-bituminous coal has developed over a number of years. It is necessary to develop a high value added technology for the worthless residues generated in LRC upgrading process due to their impurities, moisture and oxygen-rich properties. In keeping with recent demand and interest in carbon fiber industry, we have attempted to manufacture pitch-based carbon fiber using this LRC residue. The LRC residue is easily hardened itself and difficult to become a fibrous form, so we added the pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) to increase spinnability. However, LRC residues and PFO are easily separated by different chemical structure in NMR analysis, and we tried to solve it by pressurized heat treatment of both source materials. Pitch-based long fibers were successfully manufactured with different proportions of LRC residue and PFO mixture. |
