Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most powerful diagnostic tool that can obtain arbitrary tomography of a living body using a magnetic field. Silicon is a promising biomaterial of great interest in the biomedical field and can be used for drug delivery, diagnosis and therapy. Silicon nanoparticles can be used effectively in dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) technology, that can increase MRI sensitivity. Here, We are developing a MRI probe for medical diagnosis by synthesizing a silicon nanoparticle with a magnesiothermic reduction method. Monodisperse small silica nanoparticles are firstly synthesized by stober method and we are trying to synthesize small silicon nanoparticle through magnesium reduction and acid leaching. In addition, the synthesized silicon nanoparticles will be attached with tempo radicals through surface functionalization. As a result, the developed silicon nanoparticle-based MRI probes will be synthesized for diagnosis. |
