Lithium-silica-manganese oxide [Li1.33(SixMn1 − x)1.67O4 was synthesized using mechanical process using the precursors of lithium manganese oxide (Li1.33Mn1.67O4, LMO) and silica(SiO2). The mixture sample was calcined at different temperatures (400-900 °C) to achieve the LMO spinel structure. LSMO (Lithium-Silica-manganese oxide) showed higher stability, high extraction of Li with reduced Mn dissolution. The prepared composite was analyzed using XRD, TGA and TEM analysis. The characterization data showed amorphous SiO2 was well mixed with the LMO framework. The lithium adsorption properties were calculated by the pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetics and Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The LSMO composite was used as an efficient adsorbent for the recovery of Li+ from lithium spiked seawater with an adsorption capacity of 43.23 mg g−1. The adsorbent exhibited excellent selectivity towards Li+, even in the presence of competitive cations in a higher concentration than Li+. |
