Nanocarbons of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene have superior mechanical, electrical, and photo-thermal properties. The hybrids of CNTs and graphene can be used as more effective nanofillers for enhancing the mechanical and electrical properties of polymer nanocomposites due to the combined networks of 1-D CNTs and 2-D graphene. In this study, the covalently networked hybrids of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and graphene oxide (GO) were synthesized by a click chemistry reaction. The polyurethane nanocomposites with the hybrids of MWNTs and GO were prepared. The electrical conductivity and near infrared laser-induced photothermal properties of click coupled hybrids were highly increased, compared with those of MWNTs and GO sheets. The polyurethane nanocomposites with the click coupled hybrids showed enhanced mechanical properties such as breaking stress and modulus. |
