Synthesis and Characterization of PEG-Modified Magnetite Nanoparticles |

Magnetic polymer particles have been used extensively in several biomedical applications, such as magnetic cell separation, enzyme immunoassay, targeted drug delivery and diagnostics, etc. Our goal is the preparation of magnetite-contained biodegradable polymer nanoparticles for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). We are studying the synthesis of multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles treated with silane-functional molecules which allow the expression of amine(NH2) end groups on the nanoparticles surface. Afterwards, these functional end groups are used to graft biocompatible materials such as poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) and characterized by x-ray diffractometry(XRD), FT-IR, 13C-NMR, x-ray photoelectronspectroscopy(XPS), vibration samples magnetometer(VSM). |
