Facile, Single-pot preparation of silica nanoparticles with silver at the core and curst |

In this study, we exploit a facile, one-pot method to prepare silica nanoparticles with silver at the core and curst. Silver nanoparticles with diameter of 2−5 nm are highly dispersed in the framework of mesoporous silica nanoparticles along with the 10-20 nm AgNPs at the core. These AgNPs attached silica nanoparticle with Ag core possess an enhanced antibacterial effect against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria continuously releasing silver ions for one month. This study shows an efficient and economical route to synthesize silica-Ag nanocomposite with uniform silver nanoparticles and these nanoparticles show promising applications as antibiotics. |
