Ionomers, which are polymeric materials containing a small amount of ionic functionality, have been gaining much attention because the introduction of a small amount of ionic moiety into a polymer can significantly enhance the physical and mechanical properties of matrix polymer. In this study, we synthesized sulfonated nylon 12-b-PTMG multiblock copolymer ionomers via N-substitution reaction of the nylon block. Effects of ion content and type of metal cation on microstructure, thermal, mechanical and rheological properties of the ionomers were characterized by SAXS, DSC, DMA, tensile test, and ARES, respectively. |
