Imaging of Gastrointestinal Tract by Absorption of QDs Loaded Heparin-DOCA Nanoparticles |

Heparin is known as a potent anti-coagulant agent. It has been already established as an anti-angiogenic agent also, but it is poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract because of its high molecular weight. To overcome this disadvantage, deoxycholic acid (DOCA) conjugated with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). This heparin-DOCA conjugates, developed to enhance the oral absorption of poorly absorbed heparin. DOCA is well known bile acids which help to heparin absorption in stomach during oral delivery. Though the QDs itself toxic for animal and live cells as well but QDs loaded heparin-DOCA nanoparticles were much safe for live cancer cell during cytotoxicity study of human epidermal cancer cell KB. The nano-sized (220nm in diameter) QDs loaded heparin-DOCA particles found highly accumulation into the KB cell by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). In this study, we developed QDs loaded heparin-DOCA nanoparticles for imaging GI tract absorption in real time. |
