Anti-platelet and antithrombotic therapies are mandatorily considered to prevent restenosis following coronary stent implantation. Therefore, patients receiving medicated stents were prescribed to orally take antiplatelet drugs such as aspirin (ASP) and prasugrel (PRA). In this study, we prepared antiplatelet drugs-coated Co-Cr substrates with biodegradable poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA) polymer containing ASP, PRA, or PROP using electrospray, and then characterized the blood compatibility of the substrates, as indicated by protein adsorption and platelet adhesion experiments. Especially, ASP-containing substrate showed to reduce the adhesion of platelets and to delay coagulation time, and to suppress the expression level of inflammatory cytokine such as IL-6 and IL-8. The obtained results demonstrated that the antiplatelet drug-coated Co-Cr can be potentially used as a stent material to prevent restenosis without oral administration of antiplatelet drug. |
