제목 Novel-mussel inspired copolymers with adhesive property
초록 Marine mussel was widely known for having robust adhesion strength even underwater. A key element of the adhesion in marine mussels is the L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine(DOPA) containing catecholic amino acid. Catechol offers robust and durable adhesion to various surfaces.
In this study, copolymers based on DOPA derivatives and various acrylic monomers or amino-sulfonate zwitterions were successfully prepared by free radical polymerization to improve mechanical properties.
Acrylic-grafted penta-block copolymers were polymerized with various molecular weight PEO-PPO-PEO tri-block copolymers. The adhesive properties of the DOPA derivatives and acryl grafted block copolymers were compared by solution blends with various ratios These blended copolymers had been induced to form complex coacervate in the presence of metal ions and demonstrated the ability of cation-π interaction.
