Amorphous carbon coating of SiOx through PFO for anode of lithium ion batteries |
초록 |
Lithium ion batteries (LIBs) are widely utilized in many fields such as electric vehicles, energy storage systems and mobile devices. Silicon oxide (SiOx) is expected to play an important role in LIBs because it has extremely high capacity of 1200 mAhg-1. However, silicon oxide particles undergoes a huge volume expansion during lithiation and delithiation. Carbon coating is one of the process to solve this problem. Pyrolyzed fuel oil, a petroleum residue, is a mixture of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) and has fewer impurities such as sulfur compared to coal-based pitch, so it is known as a suitable raw material for high value-added carbon materials. In this study, the effect of amorphorous carbon layer created by PFO is investigated. Amorphorous carbon coated SiOx anode shows better charge-discharge cycle stability than the pristine SiOx anode. This result indicates that the carbon coating was successfully created on SiOx surface.
