제목 Preparation and characteristics of polyurethane dispersion: effect of ionic monomer content
초록 Polyurethane dispersion (PUD) is used in a variety of applications as a flexible coating for textiles and a hard coating for wood and metal surfaces. The dispersion stability of PUD particles is secured mainly by introducing a monomer having a polar ionic group into the polymer chain. We synthesized PUD and analyzed its characteristic to determine the minimum content of ionic monomers for PUD to have dispersion stability. The content of dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) for the synthesis of PUD was 2-5 wt%. The structure and reactivity of PUD were confirmed through FT-IR analysis and dibutylamine reverse titration, respectively. PUD were stored in a closed container to investigate dispersion stability at room temperature. The particle size and distribution of PUD were analyzed using a particle size analyzer. The viscosity of PUD was measured using brookfield viscometer.
