Novel photo-initiators were designed to improve photo-alignment properties including dichroic ratio, contact angle and anchoring energy. To synthesize the new photo-initiators, dimethylglyoxime which is the common reactant was respectively reacted with pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), acetic anhydride, glutaric anhydride and hexanoic anhydride for 24-36 hours. Also perchloric acid what was the role of catalyst and anhydrous pyridine were added. These reactions were proceeded at the respectively different environment including mole ratio, temperature and kind of solvents and polyimide. For measurement and analysis of the synthesized photo-initiators, UV-Visible (UV-Vis), portable type contact angle (Phoenix 300) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) were used. All measurement steps contained the results from different UV irradiation time to observe the effect of photo-decomposition reaction. |
