Autonomous vehicles have sensors such as lidar, cameras and radar to recognize surrounding objects. Among these sensors, lidar is a key sensor for autonomous vehicles because of its high accuracy and precision. However, LiDAR has a problem in that it cannot recognize dark-tone objects and vehicles with low 905 nm near-infrared reflectance. Therefore, it is necessary to develop dark tone pigments with excellent near-infrared reflectance of 905 nm for future autonomous vehicles. In this work, a ZnAl2O4-based black pigment with high 905 nm NIR reflectance was prepared using spray pyrolysis. To control the optical properties, Co and Fe ions were substituted for Zn and Fe sites of ZnAl2O4, respectively. The effect of Co content and post heat treatment temperature on the optical properties of the prepared pigment was investigated. It was confirmed that Al-substituted zinc aluminate, Zn(Al,Fe)O4, has yellow color and high NIR reflectance. Also, when Co ions were partially substituted for the Zn site of ZnAlFeO4, the resulting powder turned dark and had good 905 nm NIR reflectanceKeyword: Autonomous vehicle, black pigment, zinc aluminate, spray pyrolysis |
