제목 | Electro-response activity of synthetic/natural mica and glass base material employed in pearl pigment |
초록 | Herein, electro-response activities of synthetic mica, natural mica, and glass substrates are revealed. It is known that the three materials are employed as base materials for the multi pearlescent pigments. To investigate the electro-response activity, three materials are dispersed in silicone oil to formulate the electro-rheological (ER) fluids in two sets of 3wt% and 5wt%. As a result, two mica-based ER fluids exhibited 3-fold higher electro-response activity compared to the glass substrate-based ER fluids. Such phenomenon is due to the presence of metal ions (Na, K, Mg) in mica materials, which fortified the formation of fibril-like structure under the E-field. The electro-response activities of three different base materials for pearl-pigments clearly demonstrated that the selection of mica may increase the ER activity of further synthesized multi pearl pigments with various colors. |
