Silicon carbide (SiC) has wide application in various industrial fields because of their good high strength and modulus, low density, excellent oxidation resistance and thermal stability. In this study, SiC-C composite were prepared from mixture of polycarbosilane (PCS), epoxy resin, and polyvinyl butyral (PVB) with weight ration of 2/1/1 and 1/1/1, respectively. PCS/epoxy/PVB mixture was cured by electron beam irradiation at 5,000 kGy. The cured composite was pyrolyzed by heat treatment in flowing argon at 1,300 oC for 1 hr. The SiC-C composite was characterized by TGA, FT-IR, and SEM. |
