Single-walled carbon nanotube dispersion in various polar solvents using quaternized poly((furfurylmethacrylate)-co-(2-(dimethylamino)ethylmethacrylate)) p(FMA-co-QDMAEMA) as polymeric dispersant |

We synthesized polymeric dispersant, poly((furfuryl methacrylate)-co-(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)) (p(FMA-co-DMAEMA)) and quaternized p(FMA-co-DMAEMA) (p(FMA-co-QDMAEMA) to disperse single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) from bundled state to individual. p(FMA-co-DMAEMA) could disperse SWCNTs in only THF, In order to utilize in many fields, we dispersed SWCNT in various polar solvents, such as ethylene glycol, methanol, water and dimethylformamide using p(FMA-co-QDMAEMA) as polymeric dispersant. The chemical structures of the synthesized and modified polymeric dispersants were confirmed using 1H NMR and molecular weight by GPC. The dispersion quality of SWCNTs by p(FMA-co-QDMAEMA) was estimated using a particle stability analyzer, UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The diameters and degree of defects of dispersed SWCNTs were estimated using Raman spectroscopy. |
