The Polylactide/bamboo fiber biocomposite material was prepared. Various coupling agent, such as 3-aminopropyl triethoxy silane, vinyl trimethoxy silane, maleic anhydride, acrylic acid were applied for enhancement of mechanical properties forbiocomposite. The acrylic acid is superior to improving tensile strength of biocomposite to other coupling agent. The polylactide/fine fibrillated bamboo fiber biocomposite blended with acrylic acid showed remarkably improved tensile strength (85.12 MPa); it reached more than triples of tensile strength of neat PLA matrix. The Biocomposite blended with acrylic acid showed the highest thermal stability. To investigate biodegradability of polylactide/bamboo fiber biocomposite, enzymatic degradation test was performed using Proteinase K. This study found that fine fibrillate bamboo fiber and appropriate coupling agent, acrylic acid are promising for manufacturing biocomposite having excellent properties compare with synthetic composite materials. |
